I got these as part of a Donors Choose project. I am super impressed with how durable they are. Kindergarteners can be rough on stuff, but these are indestructible. The kids have used them as part of educational games and I have personally jumped on them. They??ve been slammed and stacked by little hands and they look as perfect as when they arrived! I recommended them to all my teacher friends.

These are very cool looking, and as long as you don??t have a kid with the ability to pick the individual tiles up off of the floor, you??ll probably be ok with them. I thought (by the nature of liquid filled sensory items) that these would be soft. They are not. They are very hard with sharp corners. Short of permanently mounting these tiles in a wooden frame, there??s no real way to make them a safe sensory room addition for anyone curious enough (with the fine motor skills required) to want to pick them up and flip them around to figure out how they work. They are not connected to each other and, while I??m sure they are very durable, the potential for injury is fairly high for anyone who??s not neurotypical. They would probably be awesome for a neurotypical teen or something, just did not work for us.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is the tiles connected? Can these be mounted to a wall?
Answer: they come separately, and it’s not supposed to mount on a wall, you would not able to interact with the coloful liquid if they were applied on a wall

Can you lay the tiles on carpet?
Answer: Yes. But they work better on a hard surface such as wood, laminate, or tiles.

Do the smaller tiles squish as well as the larger tiles?
Answer: Yes, it’s as wellas the large tiles, but since the size is smaller, have smaller space for movement

Are they burst proof?
Answer: They are 2 plastic tiles sealed together. I’ve had them for about 3 years now and not a single one has broke. My husband who is 240 lbs can stand on them and they are fine. In my opinion they are good quality and burst proof.
